Celebrities You Didn’t Know Gave Their Baby Up For Adoption

Celebrities, they’re basically just like us! Except we aren’t recognized in public, and we don’t have a ton of adoring fans. Regardless, they do tons of things that us normal people do. They go to the grocery store, they eat fast food (sometimes), and they also have the same need for privacy that we all have. On top of that, they also have huge mansions, luxury cars, and they make millions of dollars. However, when someone becomes a celebrity, it seems that this is like an open invitation for others to invest in their personal life. Paparazzi try to take photos of them through their window and follow them when they’re driving down the road. Not only do people follow them around with cameras and tape recorders, but people also take initiative to dig into their past. Many people have things in their past that they prefer to keep hidden. However, that’s not always possible when someone is a celebrity. If there’s a skeleton in their closet, it’s bound to be exposed. Many celebrities have given up a baby for adoption before they had enough resources to be able to take care of the baby. These decisions are extremely difficult, and many times this information is uncovered. Other times, the celebrity tries to make contact later on in life. While these actresses were once young and unsupported, they now have almost endless resources and want to do what they couldn’t do before. Here are 13 celebs you probably didn’t know gave up a baby for adoption.

Kate Mulgrew

You’re probably familiar with Katherine Kiernan Mulgrew for her role as Galina “Red” Reznikov on the show, ‘Orange is The New Black’. When she turned 17, she decided to leave home to study acting at Stella Adler’s Conservatory. She received her first big role when she portrayed Mary Ryan on the soap opera ‘Ryan’s Hope’. It was after she accepted this role that she found out she was pregnant. However, the producers liked her so much they decided to write their pregnancy into the show. With no support from friends, family, or the baby’s father, Kate decided to give the baby up for adoption. She started looking for her baby shortly after giving her up for adoption with the church, but she had no luck. She hired a private investigator to assist her in searching, and it wasn’t until 1988 when she ran into the nun that supervised the adoption, when she was able to get in contact with her daughter. It was while Mulgrew was on the set of Star Trek: Voyager, portraying Captain Kathryn Janeway, one of her most famous roles, that she received the call from her daughter, Danielle Gaudette. She flew out to see her daughter and the two have been close ever since.
