Husband Leaves Wife For Her Sister, Not Knowing She Won The Lottery Just Moments Before

Most people are familiar with the expression “what goes around, comes around”. The expression is often used in situations where karma comes back around to get someone who deserves it.

The heroine of the story is a woman who goes by the name of Laura. She realized that her husband who claimed to love her wasn’t at all who he said he was.

Laura was a fun-loving woman who appreciated the simplicities of life with her husband. Gary and Laura had been married for seven years. She was a devoted wife that would do anything for her husband.

Laura loved Gary more than anything, which made it all the more unbearable when she found out about his sinister side.

Their marriage had been a bit rocky at times. Laura had an office job while Gary worked as a bartender, which meant they seldom had the same time off. It was a far cry from when they first started dating all those years ago.

Whenever Laura got home, Gary had already headed out to the bar. Laura felt like she had to breathe new life into their relationship, so she came up with a brilliant idea.

When Laura clocked out of work, she felt a new growing purpose with every step. She was going to save her marriage. She would try her best and wouldn’t give up easily to ensure she and her husband got that spark back.

She was aware that Gary had the night off. It was an anomaly since Fridays always had him at the bar. On her way home, she stopped by the store and got a bottle of his favorite wine as well as the ingredients for a romantic dinner.

As Laura was about to pay for her items at the store, the clerk asked her if there was anything else. She thought for a moment and said, “I’ll have one quick pick of the lottery, please. I’m going to save my marriage!”

The clerk smiled and wished her all the best as he gave her the lottery ticket. The events that followed made Laura feel that anything could happen.

“They’re about to draw the numbers,” said the teenage clerk. “If you wait, I can check the ticket for you.” Laura was amped about her dinner plans, but she thought it might make a nice evening incredible, so decided to hang around. “You know what my good man? I think I will!” After writing Gary a text and checking her social media, she handed the clerk the ticket. Moments later, his mouth fell open.

The clerk stammered in disbelief as Laura noticed his agitation. “What is it, sir?” Laura asked. The words that left the clerk’s mouth would have Laura in tears.

“Ma’am, I think I need to double-check with my manager but it says here that you’ve just won 15 million dollars!” Laura was shaking to her core and could only stare at the clerk in disbelief.

Just as the clerk asked if she was alright, she let out a bloodcurdling scream that had all the other customers jump in fright. Laura thought it was fate, she would fix her marriage with the money bestowed upon her by this fate. Unaware that the first purchase towards this goal would later be a regret.

Laura’s stomach was full of butterflies as she caused even more of a scene in the store, hugging every stranger she came across. She thought about what she could afford for her marriage now. She hadn’t gotten the money from the lottery yet but payday had just passed…

Next thing she knew she had booked two return flight tickets to Hawaii. Now her husband wouldn’t be able to say she doesn’t act “in the moment.” As she was driving home, she had a big grin on her face. She had never been this excited before. Little did she know that her husband wasn’t going to receive the news the way she imagined.

She raced into the driveway and zipped into the front door to their home. She nearly dropped the wine as her nerves got the better of her – she was still shaking.

“GARY! WHERE ARE YOU, MY LOVE? I HAVE A BIG SURPRISE FOR YOU!” Laura shouted loudly. She then found something on the kitchen table that would change her life forever.

In all her excitement, Laura hadn’t noticed that Gary’s car wasn’t in the driveway. She furrowed her brow as she noticed a note lying on the kitchen table.

She snatched it off the table and started reading it. The first line made her gasp. “Dear wife: I’m writing you this letter to tell you that I’m leaving you forever.” Laura’s euphoria from moments ago sank from her heart as she kept reading the note. The rest of the letter would have her seething.

Gary wrote at length about how unhappy he was with their marriage, how passionless and dull things were and how she didn’t appreciate him. Laura was so confused. She knew things hadn’t been perfect but she was completely shocked by his drastic words. The final line hit her with the dull force of a kick to the stomach.

He signed the letter off with, “Either you’re cheating on me or you don’t love me anymore; whatever! I’m gone. Your EX-Husband P.S. don’t try to find me. Your SISTER & I are moving away to West Virginia together! Have a great life!” Laura felt the shattered parts of her heart stab her once more. Then out of nowhere, she started to laugh. What was so funny?

Gary had always been very vocal about his contempt for the gay and particularly transgender communities. Laura never liked his opinions but had loved him regardless and let it slide. This is why she never mentioned anything about her sister Carla’s past to Gary before.

She took out her phone and even though she was still crying, she began to smile as she typed. “Enjoy your life with Carla, you waste of space. And heads up, Carla probably doesn’t want you to know because you’re a homophobic loser and she has no respect for herself but Carla is transgender. She used to be my brother Carl. Oh, and by the way, I just won the lottery. Fifteen million dollars. I just booked us a trip to Hawaii but came home to your note. Whatever, I’ll meet someone new to bring instead. Have a great life, you fool!”
