The Truth About Why Hollywood Won’t Work With These Actors Anymore

Hollywood by no means is a stable industry. At any moment, an actor’s career can end as quickly as it started. We’ve seen such stars as Charlie Sheen, Mel Gibson, and Taylor Lautner experience roller coaster careers leaving Hollywood turning the other way and avoiding eye contact. From outrageous demands to multiple flops – here are 25 stars that all Hollywood refuses to work with.

Mel Gibson

Mel has been known to have quite the temper over the years. His biggest allegation came from his ex-wife Oksana Grigorieva who leaked a series of phone calls where he threatened to hit her in the head with a bat. He’s been known to be extremely rude on many of the sets he’s worked on and treated the staff poorly, so all rumors haven’t helped Gibson’s image.

Dakota Fanning

Dakota is only 23 now and has already starred in more than 30 films. She has recently faded from the spotlight which happens more often than not with child actors. Could it be that her innocence that producers loved about her character has worn off? Could it be that her style of acting hasn’t grown as she has? We hope things turn around for Dakota but she’s currently in the back seat of her own career.

Lindsay Lohan

Lindsay Lohan had an amazing start to her career in the late 90’s and early 2000’s. She was the target of the media spotlight as she grew infamous for getting into trouble with the law, drugs, and alcohol. She was also known to be extremely demanding on-set, probably as a result of growing up on-screen.

Jessica Biel

Jessica Biel was a major star in the early 2000’s as we’d see her appear in almost every movie. Since then, she married Justin Timberlake and has been featured as a supporting actor more often than the lead. She is now starring in “The Sinner” which we all hope goes better than her latest appearance on the “Tonight Show” with Jimmy Fallon where she forgot who sings “Cry Me A River”…hint hint…it’s your husband!

Nikki Blonsky

Blonsky had Hollywood buzzing left and right for her performance in Hairspray. Everyone thought she was going to be the next big star, but unfortunately for Nikki, staffing directors didn’t agree. She wasn’t offered any appealing roles and was driven back to her day job as a hairstylist.

Hilary Swank

Hilary Swank experienced a major pop in her career when Clint Eastwood directed and co-starred in “Million Dollar Baby”. A hard truth to swallow is that she was never a major draw in the industry. She wasn’t able to pick up the pace after that as her tomboy image can be difficult to mold into versatile roles. It doesn’t help that she’s been the target for a lot of ‘hot or not’ conversations, only fueling the fire disparaging the likes of Swank.

Eddie Murphy

Eddie Murphy started out his very successful career as a stand-up comedian. He made a powerful transition into the box-office when he saw a great hit with Doctor Dolittle. It wasn’t long after that when he experienced a plateau resulting from box-office flop after flop. These days, Murphy is grieving the loss of his brother Charlie Murphy who passed away earlier this year. Hopefully, his time away from the limelight won’t hinder his opportunity to come back to the screen strong.

Taylor Lautner

Taylor Lautner hit strides of popularity when he was rivaling Robert Pattinson in the ‘Twilight’ saga. Unfortunately for Lautner, his leading roles following that series saw flop after flop, leaving producers with a bad taste in their mouths, preferring to look for talent elsewhere. It didn’t help that he’s lost his athletic figure that he was casted to put on display in the first place.

Sharon Stone

Sharon Stone was once referred to as the hottest actress in Hollywood. She starred in such box-office hits as ‘Total Recall’ and ‘Basic Instinct’. After she hit her peak of success she became picky about why roles she would take on next. As time went on, it was a surprise to her that the offers became fewer and farther between.

Katherine Heigl

It’s been reported by many of her co-stars that Heigl is a difficult actress to work with. She has a reputation for being very stubborn and speaking out against the producers. Shonda Rhimes said that she had to fire Heigl because she was being disruptive to the flow on set and often behaved like she was better than everyone else. In an interview regarding her show, ‘Scandal’ Rhimes said, “There are no Heigls in this situation.”

Charlie Sheen

Charlie Sheen used to be one of the highest paid actors on TV. Sheen would make $1 Million each episode of ‘Two And A Half Men’. With a large sense of entitlement that he was too big for the show and should be paid more and a few interviews gone-wrong in 2014, Sheen would make less than $2 Million in 2015, even with his comeback feature of ‘Roasted’. Ever since producers preferred to work with actors who don’t flaunt such a big ego.

CeeLo Green

Rape allegations don’t exactly add a level of prestige to celebrity careers. Luckily, CeeLo dodged a bullet here as his defense claimed the relations were mutually consensual. That was the start of CeeLo’s downfall as record sales started to drop and he lost his nation-wide loved role as a coach on ‘The Voice’ which he received $7 Million per season for.

Columbus Short

Short appeared on the first season of Scandal. The show’s creator, Shonda Rhimes, decided to kill off his character before the following season. This was due to allegations made by his ex-wife that Short had threatened to kill her and then commit suicide. Rhimes couldn’t work with an unstable actor like that, and now the rest of Hollywood won’t either!

Jessica Alba

Starring in the ‘Fantastic Four’ films, ‘Sin City: A Dame to Kill For’ and ‘Honey’ showed audiences that Alba was a versatile star. Suddenly, job offers started to dwindle and Alba faded from the limelight. She took to her passion and values as she created a company for toxin-free beauty products. It seems her acting career is now a thing of the past.

Kiefer Sutherland

Kiefer Sutherland was known nation-wide as Jack Bauer on ’24’. On set, he was a completely different person. Staff and producers reported constant frustration as he would show up to set late and drunk, shutting production down so he could sleep it off. Producers just wouldn’t work with him after that because they didn’t want to take the risk of missing deadlines due to a drunk lead.

Alec Baldwin

Alec Baldwin has reportedly been a source of chaos and rude remarks for years. After a message on his daughter’s phone was leaked calling her a “pig”, things really started to slow down for Alec. In 2013, he was fired from his job on MSNBC after yelling homophobic slurs at paparazzi. The station wanted nothing to do with that kind of representation. Baldwin is now the host of the “Match Game”, a game show that’s off to a rocky start in 2017.

Shia LaBeouf

It’s no surprise that becoming a method actor can have it’s ups and downs considering the method is to become the role they are playing. Shia LaBeouf has been known to be extrmemely rude both on and off set. Brad Pitt recently spoke out after working with Shia on ‘Fury’, a World War II based film. Pitt said that he was dissapointed in his behavior. It doesn’t help your cause when such a high-esteemed actor such as Pitt speaks out against you.

Mike Myers

It’s hard to believe that funny man Mike Myers is hard to be around. But reports suggest In recent years, Myers mostly does voice overs for animated characters. This was because it was reported that his perfectionist style was extremely difficult to work with and it often help-up production on set because he demanded to approve everything first. When it turns out that comedy didn’t flow as easily as Myers made it seem on-screen, Hollywood stopped casting him for leading roles like his ‘Austin Powers’ trilogy.

Robert Pattinson

Since the Twilight saga was the last major role that Pattinson had, Pattinson’s career has essentially plummeted. Pattinson told reporters that he’s always struggled with depression and it’s been because of that he’s held back from going after major roles.

Catherine Zeta-Jones

Catherine Zeta-Jones was a major actress who reached her peak of popularity earlier in the 2000’s and has faded steadily over the years. After she made it public that she was constantly battling bipolar disorder, producers didn’t want to risk working with an unstable actress. The other major reason Hollywood won’t work with her anymore is that her career was built on being the exotic, young, sexy role. Now that she’s getting older, spots to fill are becoming few and far between.

Chevy Chase

When you become famous, you have a two-year window where you get to be a jerk to everyone before it gets old. That never stopped for Chevy Chase. Fellow stars of Saturday Night Live reported that he was terrible to work with and was eventually banned from the show altogether. Dino Stamatopoulos, who played Star Burns on ‘Community’ with Chevy Chase said, “Chevy mostly pissed me off when I was working on Conan back around ’94. I had been working hard all week on a very complex desk piece. It played the segment right before Chevy came out and it did okay. After Chevy was introduced, he sat down, and the first thing he said was, “Wow, Conan, that bit sure was… stupid.” Chevy Chase took every chance he had to put someone else down.

Mischa Barton

“The O.C.” meant major lift-off for Barton as her role as a lead in the show had Hollywood expecting more incredible performances out of her. Unfortunately, Mischa let it all go straight to her head as she treated everyone she worked with poorly and stopped producing anything close to a good performance. After battling with drug abuse, Barton appeared on ‘Dancing With The Stars’ where most of her time was spent complaining and her dancing wasn’t anything memorable either. She made it as far in the competition as her career did.

Vince Vaughn

Vince Vaughn was beloved by all after his part in ‘Wedding Crashers’. He’s played some big roles and overall has had a very successful career. However, one thing Hollywood finally caught onto is that he plays the same character each and every time. It seems the need for Vince Vaughn has started to fade as he’s been appearing in much fewer Blockbusters lately. His recent performance in Hacksaw Ridge was absolutely incredible and a sign that he might be turning things around, but we’ll all have to wait and see.

Macaulay Culkin

Child star Macaulay Culkin experienced a peak in his career when he starred in the Home Alone series, one that’s still iconic today. After a few more memorable roles such as the one in ‘Richie Rich’, the need for his adorable antics quickly faded and he retired from the industry when he was only 14. Since then, his battle with drugs and alcohol have turned Hollywood producers off altogether from working with him again now that he’s popped up in short videos recently on social media.
